![]() Carers make a huge difference to people's lives. Lois 85. Bob 89.Lois and Bob have never spent a night apart in 62 years of marriage and are determined to stay in their home. "Everyone's always hinting at us to move into something smaller. I tell them, we came here in '58 and we're here for the full innings", says Lois. Keeping the family home going was becoming a struggle. Not only was there the house but the garden as well. Their daughter organised for Julia to come for an hour and a half every day. "We're both getting a bit tottery so doing everything takes a bit longer. Having a bit of help every day means that you're not totally exhausted at the end of the day. It's good to know that if something happens there's help available. We've always had the gardener come, and getting a carer isn't any different. Anything you need they can do. For instance last week Bob was at me to make crumbed cutlets for dinner. I couldn't be bother with all the mess. We got Julia onto it, and surprisingly, they were nearly as good as mine".
